Two Tasks for Modern Language Students
Two tasks for Modern Foreign Language Students (Secondary)
Share with the students the stories from the selected case studies then ask them to complete the relevant tasks.
Target Language German (Based on the Gypsy section of the Mosaic of Victims case study.)
In June 1943 Margarete Dickow wrote a letter to the Berlin Police. In her letter she complained about her neighbours. They were Gypsies. She told the police that they should arrest the Gypsies and take them away.
Imagine that another woman wanted to help the Gypsies. Write a short letter which she could send to the police. Ask the police to leave the Gypsies alone and explain why it is wrong to pick on people because they are different.
Target Language French (Based on the Denise Affonço case study)
Translation
Denise Affonço’s Father was French. Therefore Denise was a French Citizen. When the Khmer Rouge soldiers were defeated Denise and her son wanted to leave Cambodia and start a new life in France.
